Chapter 1

Ryoko-Ashi was trying to meditate. He may have now had the power he wanted, but with it he was forced to endure the almost never-ending need that came with it.

It was so difficult to focus with all of this need surging through him. How was he supposed to get anything done? From his room he yelled “bring me maidens now!”

Within seconds maidens poured into the room. The former First ordered them all to his bed and then began to relieve needs.

With his needs relieved Ryoko-Ashi could once again focus. But even with a straight mind, his thoughts drifted back to his unrelenting need. He had to find a way to get rid of his needs. With them he would be vulnerable.

Ryoko gathered his books. In them he looked for a spell that would release him from his dreadful problem. For hours he searched through them, each page showing no promise. Finally he tired and threw the books out of his sight. He wanted this done with as fast as possible.

Ryoko was about to retire, but then a thought crept into his mind. If he had been able to remove a soul from a body, he should also be able to remove parts from a soul. If that was possible he would remove the needs that had been troubling him. He placed a magic circle around his bed, and along its circumference runes. For a long time he worked, never did his eyes stray from his work. It was almost midnight when he finished.

He began to chant. A magical light filled the bedchamber. Power began to surge from the mage’s body. Ryoko screamed as he felt his very soul rip. He fainted from the strain of the spell and drifted to sleep. A rare smile graced his face while he thought of his great accomplishment. Unbeknownst to him his spell had not worked…

While he could not rip out the emotions tied to his soul, he was able to rip part of it from his body. And from it came a magical being born of Ryoko’s body, power, and soul. Through magic the soul formed a body.

Through the magic of the earth a body was formed from the palace floor. Magic molding the body into that of a young mans. Silver locks adorned his head. They reached down to his shoulders. With a petite frame and creamy skin the boy looked somewhat feminine. But underneath it all strong muscle could be seen. When the soul finally entered the body, it began changing, taking on the likeliness of Ryoko-Ashi. When the transformation was complete it seemed like the First had managed to make a younger version of him.

This younger Ryoko looked around the room. He approached some of the discarded spell books and took them and began reading. When he was done it was almost dawn. “It’s best not to remain here, especially when father realizes he has failed.” Silently the boy left the room. Now his only problem was getting out of the palace, without getting caught.

Ryoko raised his hands into the air. He closed his eyes concentrating. The first beams of sunlight hit the Silver Palace, and as soon as they touched him he vanished. If anyone had seen him they would have thought he had disappeared, but in reality he had moved the light around him in order to become invisible. The young mage crept through the palace, finally reaching the outside.

He would need a place to stay for the time being. The first place that came into his mind was Ryoko-Ashi’s library. Ryoko set off, with a premonition that something was going to happen.
“‘I'll never belong to you!’  Ryoko-Ashi glared at the Princess standing in front of him…

And then he unmade himself…

Energy began to pour from his body …The mage began to scream, obviously in agony…

Then, in a scream of light and power, the White Mage simply fell apart. Ryoko-Ashi lay dead on the floor, his body ripped apart…”

The younger Ryoko felt the agony of his greater side’s death. He could feel the ripping of his soul, the agony, a feeling worse than that of anything else. An eternal death. With the mage gone Ryoko knew that it would only be a matter of time before they found the library. He needed to find somewhere else to go…but where else could he go?
Long minutes went by, and still he could think of no place. Frustration began to take over his thoughts. Magic began pouring from his body, seeping into everything around him. A thunderous sound came as the earth began to move. Centuries of foundation began to shake, for the first time moving from their homes. The floor seemed to ripple around the young mage, and debris began falling.

Ryoko’s anger was quickly replaced by concentration as he tried to stop the magic he had unleashed. After a few seconds the earth once again was still. The young mage had to watch his temper; if he had given in to it he would have been killed. With his mind cleared Ryoko decided where he would go, The Castle of Otherworld.
