White Magic Spells & Charms

White magic is not just for witches and sorcerers -- there are simple spells and charms that anyone can do -- as long as your intention is clear and good. Set your intention before you start the spell and it will become part of the spell. Then the Universe, the Source, God (whatever you want to call it) will take it from there. Some spells take longer than others to come to pass, so don't become impatient. If you begin to believe the spell won't work, then you are putting that feeling into the spell and you can cause the spell to end without fruition.

Remember, these spells are only to be used with white magic and positive intentions. If your intentions are to cause harm, then harm will return to you three fold.

A Basic Protection Spell

What the Spell Does: helps with personal protection

Things needed: 1 small black stone, running water and an indoor sunny spot
What to do: First cleanse stone by holding under running water while repeating 3 times:

Water, wash all other peoples ' energy from this stone.

Let it completely dry naturally in the sunny spot. Once dry hold the stone in the hand you write with. While holding repeat three times:

This stone is mine.
I will carry it for all time.
To help protect me from dangers seen.
To help protect me from dangers unseen.
Call to me.
If I forget thee.

Carry the stone with you at all times, in your pocket or purse.

An Apple and Cider Charm

Things needed: 5 orange candles (any size), an apple twig (always thank the tree for giving you the twig and give it a little water in return), a small knife, an apple, a bowl, a symbol of your work (a business card will do nicely), a glass, and apple cider (organic if possible)

What to do: On a Friday night, place 5 orange candles in a large circle on the floor. Orange is the color of optimism and determination. You must stay in the circle so make sure that the circle is large enough. Place all the above items inside the circle of candles. Trace a circle just inside the candles with the twig, moving clockwise. Using the knife, cut the apple into 22 pieces. 22 is the number that incorporates the magic of all other numbers. Drop the pieces of the apple into the bowl, one by one, wishing for luck as you drop each piece. Place the symbol of your work on top and sprinkle with a little of the cider. Stir the contents of the bowl with your twig in a clockwise direction, and imagine your work, business or venture coming to fruition and bearing fruit. Pour a glass of cider and then close your eyes and wish for success as you drink the cider. Stay in the circle for a few minutes to set the spell and then dismantle your circle of candles, one by one in the opposite order that you set them down. Remove the symbol of your work, but don’t wash it off. Keep it in a safe place. Pour the contents of the bowl (the apple pieces and cider) in a place where nature can partake of the bounty.

The Oak Bath

Cleanse my spirit, cleanse my soul
Enrich my life with a happiness whole

Holding the acorn in your hand, climb into the bath and lay down, breathing in the scent of the oak leaves. Think of the oak tree -- strong, secure and beautiful. Think of your life in that way - safe and secure. That night, sleep with the acorn under your pillow. The following morning, take the acorn out into the sun and let it soak up the warmth of the golden sun. Wish good for yourself, your family, your friends and your neighbors. Put the acorn in your pocket and carry it around with you all day so that it will soak up your personality. Then, in the evening, put the acorn in a special and safe place. Whenever you feel your luck waning, repeat the spell.

Home Protection

Using a large clean jar, fill it 3/4 of the way with bottled water. Add 3 tablespoons of sea salt, 3 tablespoons of basil, 3 tablespoons of sage, and 3 tablespoons of rosemary. (they can be bought at the spice aisle in the grocery store if you can't find fresh herbs). Mix it all up with a new wooden spoon or a new chopstick. Then place your hands over the top of the jar and say:

Salt and Water, Inner and Outer
Soul and Body Be Cleansed!
Cast out all that is harmful,
take in all that is good and healing.
By the powers of the Angels,
let this water be blessed!

You now have made protection/blessed water. Then starting at your front door, go around the perimeter of your home (on the outside) and dip your right hand into the water and cast off the droplets from your hand on your home. Do the windows and doors especially good. As you do this, say:

Frozen Honey

A spell to improve a love relationship

Before during the spell, take a cleansing bath. Add a spoonful of salt, valerian root, rosemary and lavender to warm bath water. While in the bath, speak out loud your reasoning for the spell. Make sure you are motivated by love and not by a wish to bind your love to you. After your bath, you are ready to do the spell.

Take two small pieces of paper and write your name on one of them and your love's name on the other. Put the pieces of paper so that the names are facing each other and place them in a small plastic container. Put a few vervain leaves on top of the paper pieces. Pour clover honey over all of it. Make a vow of warmth and affection to your love and imagine that you and your love are standing together, holding hands, in a warm golden glow. Place the container in your freeze where it will not be disturbed.

The Rainbow Spell

A spell for happiness and joy.  You will need 7 slender candles, 7 pieces of ribbon and 7 flowers, one of each in these colors:  red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.   These are the colors of the rainbow (and the chakras).  Tie each candle at the base with its corresponding ribbon and place it along with its corresponding colored flower in a small vase in 7 different rooms of your house (or in 7 different areas of your home if it is small).  Open all the windows and ask for nature's blessings.

Promise to honor nature more attentively in the future by leaving seeds for the birds, growing plants and flowers, and not harming the environment. Light the candles in the order listed above, then sit in the center of your home or your room and mentally imagine all the colors of the rainbow swirling around you. Meditate for one hour and then extinguish the candles. Repeat this for six more nights. After the final night, undo the ribbons from the candles and braid them together. This braid will become a talisman for happiness and joy. Keep it in a special place near a window so that it is close to nature.

A spell for attracting good luck and cleansing the spirit. Things needed: a handful of oak leaves (cleaned under running water), lemongrass oil, and one acorn (as perfect as possible). On the new moon, fill a bathtub with warm water and put the oak leaves and a few drops of the lemongrass oil into the the water. Hold the acorn in your hand and say these words:

The Willow Knot

A talisman for enchantment - to give yourself good humor, wisdom and grace.  A spell for self-empowerment.

Using a small soft, pliable piece of green willow (soak it in water over night to make it more pliable if needed), bend it into a figure eight knot. As you work with the willow, think of yourself as part of a chain linking you to everyone and everything else -- a part of Earth herself. Then think of the people who are difficult in your life and think loving thoughts and good wishes for them. Weave a spell of enchantment into the knot as you work with it. Place it in your pocket, wear it as a pin, or place it in a prominent place in your home. If you have an important meeting or dinner event, make sure the willow knot is on the table (you can diguise it as part of the centerpiece).
