Brigit

The Bright One

There are three aspects of Brigid (pronounced Breed), but not the typical maid, mother, crone;
rather, they were identical.
The Brigids were unified in the symbol of fire,
for her name means "bright arrow,"
or simply the "bright one."

 Brigit is a goddess of fertility, concerned equally with vegetation, animals and humans.  Everywhere she walks, flower spring up under her feet and around her shrine, it is always spring.  She is the patroness of midwifery and healing.  The goddess of poetry, she is the keeper and dispenser of inspiration.  Brigit is the keeper of the Cauldron of Inspiration.  As a goddess of earthly fire, she is the patroness of metal craft and smith work.

Her festival (February 1) is one of the four main events of the Pagan calendar for it marks the reawakening of the Earth after its winter rest.
